Big Al with the MPG Level 5 fretless

I'm on the case, I play the bass.

I play three very different basses, a 2000 MPG (Matt Pulcinella Guitars) Level 5 Five String Fretless (as seen at left), a 2002 Fender Jazz Bass and a 2005 Medio Fino Double Bass from Upton Bass in CT.

The Medio Fina Double Bass is a beautiful piece of workmanship, the Revolution SOLO pickup gives it a deep, solid resonance with plenty of upper-mids and wood sound. The defining Jazz instrument.

The MPG fretless Bass is great for jazz, ballads, and latin as it a warm organic sound, much like an acoustic bass, but with more range.

The Fender Jazz Bass is a classic, simple, punchy sound for all styles. I am from Detroit after all.

On guitar, I play a Garrison G30CE Acoustic/Elec and a Fender Stratocaster, both Buzz Feiten-ized. I played rhythm guitar on all but one of my songs, and five solos on the first CD.

As my own producer, I have also written and recorded all of the support parts, such as Keyboards, Strings and Horns.

I am available for recording or performance and composition. I live in the Los Angeles area. As well as the styles represented here, I also play straight-ahead Jazz, Latin & Funk real well.
